Can a complete beginner learn Istanbul Turkish?
Yes. The course starts at CEFR level A1 and is designed for absolute beginners. You only need time for short daily practice.
Which lessons are free?
Lessons 1 to 3 in the Elingua app are free. You can also read and practise Lesson 1 on this website.
How much does it cost, and how do I pay?
The remaining lessons are unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase on Google Play. There is no monthly subscription and no automatic renewal. The exact price is shown in Google Play.
Where can I download the Elingua app?
Elingua is available for Android on Google Play. Search for “Elingua” and check the link in our latest posts.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You do not need an account or a login. Your progress is saved on your own device.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. We will announce it on the website and our social channels as soon as it is ready.
Why does the speaking practice need microphone access?
In the roleplay section, the app and website listen to your voice so they can check your pronunciation. Audio is captured only after you press the microphone button and allow access. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is the Turkish audio a real native voice?
The Turkish audio is produced by the text-to-speech engine of your device or browser, so quality depends on your device. If no Turkish voice is available, the audio is produced by Google’s speech service.
Does Elingua provide an official language certificate?
Not yet. We are working on the necessary accreditation and will announce it on this site when it is available.
Does Elingua teach other languages?
Right now, the course teaches Istanbul Turkish only. We plan to add other languages, such as French and Italian, in the future.

Is Elingua suitable for children?
The content is educational and suitable for all ages. Children under 13 should use the service with a parent or guardian.
